At the meeting, it is planned to discuss the urgent issues of security of the tailings management facilities in the region and proposals on the formation of appropriate programs (plans) for the management plan for the Dniester river basin. Program of the event is available here (in Ukrainian).
The first component of the project "A detailed analysis of water resources, related ecosystems and their use" implies the study of the current state of the tailings management facilities in the Dniester River basin and their impact on water resources. The main executors of this part of the project are OSCE experts – Irina Nikolaieva, Anna Lenko, Kateryna Okhotnyk; and specialists – Grigory Shmatkov (Research Center for Environmental Audit and Clean Technologies) and Serhiy Chumachenko (Institute of Environmental Geochemistry of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine)

July 2, 2018 in the city of Ivano-Frankivsk (Ukraine) will be held the starting meeting with the participation of all the parties to the Global Environment Facility "Facilitation of transboundary cooperation and integrated water resources management in the Dniester River basin" – the representatives of the Ministry of Environment, OSCE, local authorities and enterprises on the territory of which tailings management facilities are located.
